This was my third trip along the river, hiking 100 feet inland from the bank in search of the flower I saw last year. Looked all around for over a mile, river made a turn and I thought I was about a half mile from the caverns part of river. Took photo of this sign few years back when I visited the park. Started back along the river bank, spider stick in front of me. Have to really watch where you are walking, lots of spider webs between trees.
About a hundred yards down the bank this white spot caught the corner of my eye. I finally found the flower, but this was a different one. Same type of flower but this one grew 10 feet from the bank. Only one bloomed out of all the leafy bases. I had not seen any red or purple this trip. Maybe it is because of the drought this year or the wild flowers bloom later in the summer.
