Two months ago, I came up with a more efficient way than doing a less than 10 to reduce department redlines. In the morning stockers check the 140 report against the required to see if we will have enough on hand to select thru the day. While doing this I have them underline any pick slot amounts that are under twenty units on hand after selection.

After selection for the day and before damages are pulled the stockers and myself count the underlined. If there is a variance we write down the total on hand next to the number the 140 report says we should have. We hand that paperwork into inventory control and they make the adjustments that night before billing. Before adjusting, IC matches what computer says on hand against what 140 report says. Any discrepancies and they count the item. This prevents any double item adjustments from occurring due to invoices or other such billings.

Using this preventive tool, candy repack has reduced department redlines by 50%.

I am going to suggest this to all the mezzanine departments to implement. May add 15 minutes a day to stockers but the end result of reducing redlines is well worth the time.
